Link gets the Pura Pad early in Tears of the Kingdom, but it’s missing some features Link needs to explore the vast open world of Hyrule including The Camera and The Compendium. Today I’m going to walk through the quest ‘Camera Work in the Depths’ so you can start using that camera as fast as possible in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
First of all, you’ll want to complete the Great Sky Island tutorial in the game, and jump down to Hyrule’s ground and make your way to Lookout Landing. Once you complete the Great Sky Island, you’ll get a yellow marker on your map which will direct you straight to Looking Landing, so it’s nice and easy. Once there, have a chat with Pura and when you have finish find Robbie and Josha, and have a chat with them. This is where you pick up the quest ‘Camera Works in The Depths’.
Camera Work in The Depths Quest Guide
Robbie will laugh at you, because you didn’t know the Pura Pad had a camera, even though it’s one of the basic features. Josha wants to go down into the depths for research purposes, but Robbie says he’ll go first, taking Link as protection. Robbie then runs off ahead of you, but wants to meet you down in the Depths of Hyrule to take some pictures. Josha then gives you 10 Brightbloom seeds and some arrows, given that sunlight can’t penetrate down in the depths below Hyrule.
Go to the Chasm
Next up, we want to meet up with Robbie, which means heading South out of Lookout Landing. Leave through the Southern Gate, and make your way towards the marker on the map. You’ll come across the massive hole in the ground, and from here you want to dive in. Hopefully by this time you’ll have the Paraglider, otherwise it’s going to be a hard bump at the bottom, or a long climb down. Check out the guide for getting the paraglider first if you need to.
Find Robbie
Once you have jumped down into the hole, have a chat with Ponnick, who’s standing in the light. He’ll explain Robbie ran off, but left a trail. From here you can use the Brightbloom seeds to help light up the path, you can either throw there or fuse them with arrows to shoot them at a distance. If you are early in the game and don’t have many hearts do be wary of the enemies down here, as they can hit hard. Follow Robbie’s path and you’ll find the Nisoij Lightroot. You’ll find a small fire and a note from Robbie, saying he’s gone head, so keep following the lights.
Be careful of the gloom on the ground, this is the black/red stuff and it can break your heart conatiners, making it even more difficult to reach your objective. Try to stay clear of enemies and gloom if possible. You’ll come across a small camp guarded with Bokoblins. There are some bomb flowers close by which you can use to kill them by fusing them with arrows.
Once you have dispatched all the enmies, keep going forward, lighting your path with Brightbloom seeds and you’ll find the Iayusus Lightroot. Next to that will be Robbie, who stands amazed at your new abilities. The Iayusus Lightroot can be found at coordinates (-0786, 0433, 00469) at the Depths.
Unlock the Camera and Compendium
Have a chat with Robbie and he’ll teach you how to use the camera by taking a photo of the statue, plus he will open up the Compendium too. When you have finished taking the photo of the statue, you’ll want to return to Lookout Landing and show Josha, and that is the Camera Work in the Depths quest complete.
Let me know what you think of the camera, and the depths in Tears of the Kingdom.
