How to get the Barbarian Armor in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

The Barbarian Armor is one of the best armor sets in Tears of the Kingdom, and makes a return from Breath of the Wild. This armor set not only gives you a great attack boost, but was also one of the first clues towards the existence of the Zonai people in Hyrule. Today I’m going to walk through how to get the Barbarian armor, so you can win any battle with ease in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

The Barbarian Armor comprises of 3 armor pieces; chest, legs and head, and the hunt for the Barbarian Armor will take you all over Hyrule, in caves plus battling a range of enemies.

Barbarian Armor Chest Piece Location

You’ll find the Barbarian Armor chest piece inside Crenel Hills Cave at the coordinates (0484, 0729, 0041), northeast of Lookout Landing and southwest of “Crenel Hills” on the map. When you get inside the cave you’ll see a lot of Luminous Stone ores all around you, so follow them inside the cave. If you have a rock hammer, now is a great time to stock up on gems.

Be careful for the Stone Talus in the middle of the cave. They can be lengthy fights, and you can skip the whole thing if you carefully creep around. The central cave where you will find the armor is shaped like a cirlce, and the Stone Talus is in the the middle, so try and avoid him if possible. When you drop down into the cave, stick to the left and and go around the cave. When you are on the other side of the cave you’ll see a path above. Climb up there and you’ll find a chest with the Barbarian Armor chest piece. That on it’s own with give you a +1 to attack power, plus 3 defense.

Barbarian Armor Legs Piece Location

You can find the Barbarian Legs inside Walnot Mountain Cave at the coordinates (3931, -2068, 0129), east of Hateno Village past the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab. It’s next to a small lake south of Retsam Forest, which you should be able to see on the map.

The cave itself is fairly tough. There are plenty of Bokoblins, a huge one, plus ice keese, and Like Likes. You can fight the enemies or you can sneak in there and make a run for it, it’s up to you. If you are going to fight then take out the Keese when you first enter. Then climb to the upper levels and take on the Bokoblins. I find fusing arrows with different elements of ChuChu’s to be really helpful here, you can freeze them in place with white ChuChu jelly for example to give yourself a little breathing room. Keep following the path and you’ll be met with an Ice Like Like who’s guarding where we need to get to, so take them our, jump over the gap and that will take you into the room with the chest.

Finally, the chest itself is encased in ice, so you want to make sure you bring something that will melt ice. You can make a fire with a bundle of wood and some flint, and hit it with a metal weapon to create fire, or use arrows fused with fire fruit. Choose what works for you, but do remember to bring something that will help you create fire so you can get the chest. Open up the chest and you’ll get the Barbarian Leg Armor, which again gives you +1 to your attack power, plus 3 defense.

Barbarian Armor Head Piece Location

You can find the Barbarian Helm inside Robred Dropoff Cave at the coordinates (2487, -1467, 0013), southeast of Karariko Village. Check out the map, the entrance is slightly northwest of the “Robred Dropoff” name itself, and south of Phalian Highlands. There are also lots of stone statues outside that will point you in the right direction.

The stone statues will show you the path toward the treasure. If you see stone statues that are looking at a specific direction, they’re subtly pointing you in the right direction, much like we’ve seen before down in the depths for earlier quests.

Before you enter the cave try and stock up on bomb flowers and rock hammers, as you are going to need to get through some rock walls for this one.

The first room has multiple statues and 3 paths forward. Check out the statues and you’ll see they are facing the center of a cirlce around them, while there are 3 that are facing a wall. That is where you want to go. This path is going to take you into a room with a lot of Bokoblins, so be prepared to fight. The chest you are looking for is on the other side of the room, and there are two stone statues facing it, but there is a locked door in the middle, meaning you can’t get there.

To get the chest you need to destroy the rocks that are in the center of the room. This is where your bomb flowers fuxed with arrows come in handy or rock hammers, although you’ll need to slam Link into the ground to get the rocks. Try to keep the enemies at bay with some fused arrows, again, ice arrows are good here to freeze them in place.

In front of you there is a path to climb down to, and that leads to 3 groups of statues. Starting on the left, the first group has 5, the second has 1 and the third has 3. Stand in front of the group of 3 and use Ascend, that will take you directly up to the room with the chest. Finally, open up the chest and you’ll get the Barbarian Helm.

Now you have all the Barbarian Armor you’ll have +3 to attack at all times, plus you can upgrade the Barbarian Armor at the Great Fairy Fountains. The set bonus is Charge Atk. Stamina Up which means decreases the stamina used by charged attacks.
