The Frostbite armor is an excellent set if you are planning on exploring the cold environments of Hyrule. This armor powers up Link with Ice damage whenever he’s in cold weather, which makes it perfect for exploring Rito Village or high in the mountains. Today I am going to go through how to get each piece of the Frostbvite armor, so you can add some extra bite to Links attacks in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

It is possible to find clues around Hyrule related to the Frostbite Armor, however, today I am going to skip all that and go straight to the source and let you know where to find each of the Frostbite Armor pieces, and that includes the Frostbite Shirt, Frostbite Trousers, and Frostbite Headdress. It’s worth noting this armor doesn’t give you cold weather resistance, it increases your damage output in cold weather. There is also a set bonus for the armor, once you have upgraded each piece twice and you can see the ice on the armor glow.

Frostbite Chest Piece Location

You can find the Frostbite Shirt inside the Brightcap Cave, which is east of Rito Village. If you start at the Lucky Clover Gazette then follow the road that goes to Tabantha Hills, pretty much until you line up with Tama Pond when looking at the map. The entrance to the cave is south, and you’ll find two NPCs having a chat outside the cave.

Go inside the cave and you’ll be met by a Horriblin. Defeat them and then continue until you come across a Like Like. You can defeat it if you want or run past. Keep making your way through the cave and you’ll find some vines covering the chest. Fire is your friend here, so fuse a fire fruit to an arrow and burn the vines away.

Then you’ll be able to access the chest with the Frostbite Shirt. This grants a 2 defense, plus cold weather attack bonus.

Frostbite Legs Location

The Frostbite Trousers can be found in the Hebra Headspring cave which is at the northern part of the Hebra Headspring, northeast of Hebra Plunge, south of Hebra Mountains.

Make your way to the cave entrance and figtht back against the Ice Keese. The main issue here is getting to the treasure, given the structures. You can jump on the structures, but Link will slip, so try and do this quickly. Use a combination of this technique and jumping plus paragliding to get to the other side, or use a Zonai machine. You can create ice in the water by throwing a white chuchu at the water, and then use the platform to help you get across. Use the current to get close to where you need to be and then at the crucial time jump up the wall.

Open up the treasure chest and you’ll get the Frostbite Trousers, this will give you +2 defense and a cold weather attack boost.

Frostbite Head Piece Location

The Frostbite Headdress can be found inside the Lake Kilsie cave north of Lake Kilsie, west of Hebra Mountains and northwest of Rito Village.

Getting to the loot location can be a little difficult. Start at Rospro Pass Skyview Tower and then use your paraglider. Once you reach the cave a Horriblin will start a fight with you, so defeat them by using recall on their projectiles or hit them onto the ground and then finish them off.

The cave has an air vent that allows you to use your paraglider to get some height. You want to go up to the right. There are ice stalactites blocking your entrance but you can melt them using fire arrows or a bomb flower. Once you get through here you have a rock wall to destroy. Either bomb flowers or a rock hammer will do just fine here.

Once you have made it inside the treasure room, open up the chest for the Frostbite Headdress, which gives you 2 defense and a boost to cold weather attacks. That completes the full set!

Frostbite Armor upgrades

Upgrade the armor twice per piece for a cold weather charge set bonus. This allows you to do a special charge attack which includes a circle of ice.

1-star (4 defense): 3 ice fruit, 10 rupees
2-star (6 defense): 5 Ice-Breath Lizalfos horns, 5 winterwing butterflies, 50 rupees
3-star (9 defense): 5 Ice Like stones, 5 cold darners, 5 large Zonai charges, 200 rupees
4-star (16 defense): 5 Gleeok Frost horns, 10 chillfin trout, 10 large Zonai charges, 500 rupees
