The Legend of Zelda had a big year in 2023, but the news for our favourite series hasn’t slowed down. Today I’m going to bring you news of Zelda potentially coming to Nintendo World, we have a free Zelda concert to watch, new Figma figures coming soon, plus Twilight Princess Manga coming. All that and more in today’s Zelda News Roundup, so let’s get into the news.
Nintendo World May Be Getting Zelda Attraction
J Brodie Shirey, Gamerant
A now-deleted social media post has fans guessing that The Legend of Zelda could be finally getting its own theme park attraction after years of speculation. When the first Super Nintendo World location opened at Universal Studios Japan back in 2021, it was primarily focused on the Big N’s flagship Super Mario Bros. franchise, but it would soon start introducing interactive rides and attractions based on its other properties. A few months after the Japanese park went live, Nintendo announced that there would be a Donkey Kong-themed expansion coming in spring 2024, with an American version being added to the upcoming Universal Studios Orlando exhibit in 2025.
Of course, Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong are just the tip of the Nintendo iceberg, and there have been multiple rumors of Super Nintendo World adding attractions based on major franchises like The Legend of Zelda and Pokemon over the years since the park was first announced. In 2020, insiders claimed that Universal Orlando was planning to replace its existing Lost Continent attraction with an area themed after The Legend of Zelda, but this was eventually abandoned in favor of the current Mario and Donkey Kong-themed attractions. However, a recent report claims that the Zelda plans are being revived, and parts of Lost Continent were closed back in May.
A now-deleted video shared on a Universal Studios employee Instagram account appears to show Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma and franchise creator Shigeru Miyamoto wearing safety gear at a construction site, as reported on by GamesRadar. While the official context was lost alongside the video itself, those who saw it and have since shared screenshots on social media claim that it was taken at Universal Studios Orlando’s upcoming Epic Universe expansion – which will be the site of the park’s Super Nintendo World attraction that is set to open next summer.
While this photo could be for anything, the presence of Aonuma and Miyamoto seems to suggest this photo depicts construction for the often-rumored Legend of Zelda exhibit. The previously mentioned 2020 report claimed that some of the previously-planned Zelda attractions could have included some sort of theater-style show featuring rows of seats that could be shifted and moved on cue and a Pirates of the Caribbean-style water ride where boats would be lifted into the air and flown around.
These ideas, or at least modified versions of them, could yet be realized at Universal Studios Orlando’s upcoming Epic Universe expansion, assuming that the photo of Eiji Aonuma and Shigeru Miyamoto is indeed the pair overseeing work on a Legend of Zelda theme park attraction. Nothing concrete has been verified at this point, so fans eager to experience the thrills of Hyrule in a theme park setting will have to stay tuned for more official developments. In the meantime, Super Nintendo World is set to open at Universal Studios Orlando in Orlando, Florida in the summer of 2025.
Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Link Figma Final Design Unveiled
Liam Doolan, Nintendo Life
Last July, the Good Smile Company lifted the lid on a new Max Factory figma of Link based on his latest Switch outing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. At the time, we got an early look at him, and now in a new update at the ‘Wonderful Hobby Life For You 38’ event, the final (and absolutely stunning) design has been revealed.
In addition to this, both Zelda and Ganondorf will be getting figures (based on their likeness from Tears of the Kingdom). You can check out the gallery on the Good Smile website. The below social media post shows the final version of Link, the early concept of Ganondorf, and the Zelda announcement – with this particular figure “coming soon”.
Watch The Legend Of Zelda Orchestral Concert For Free On Your Couch
Evan Campbell, Gamespot
Nintendo is offering up its best Navi impersonation by asking you to “hey, listen” to a pre-recorded orchestral concert of classic The Legend of Zelda tunes. The performance happened last month in Tokyo, but now is available to everyone to watch on YouTube–and seen below.
Originally, this Legend of Zelda concert was supposed to take place at Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo, but the company had to cancel the event over safety fears, per VGC. As such, the performance was pre-recorded and shared online. The video clocks in at almost 30 minutes and features songs from the original NES game, Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild, and more.
Nintendo Live 2023 took place in Seattle last September after it originally debuted in Japan the previous year. In addition, Nintendo has held numerous live performances of The Legend of Zelda music over the past decade. For instance, there have been Zelda symphony tours as well as an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert way back in 2015.
The latest entry in the long-running series is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which just topped 20 million copies sold. The Nintendo Switch exclusive launched in May 2023 and became the fastest-selling game in franchise history.
The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess Manga Series Is Getting A Box Set
Liam Doolan, Nintendo Life
Remember The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess manga series that began life in February 2016 and ended its run in early 2022? It was created by Akira Himekawa (the combined name for the two artists behind this series) and will later this year be available as a complete set.
According to online listings on Amazon, VIZ Media (which was responsible for the localisation of this manga), is now offering a box set featuring “all 11 volumes” as well as a collectible, double-sided poster. The whole set combined adds up to 2,040 pages. Here’s the official description:
The manga adaptation of the hit Twilight Princess video game, now available in a box set! Become part of the Legend—The Legend of Zelda!
Once upon a time, wizards tried to conquer the Sacred Realm of Hyrule. The Spirits of Light sealed the wizards’ power within the Shadow Crystal and banished them to the Twilight Realm beyond the Mirror of Twilight. Now, an evil menace is trying to find Midna, Princess of the Twilight Realm, and the fragments of the Shadow Crystal to gain the power to rule over both the Twilight Realm and the World of Light.
This box set contains all 11 volumes of the smash-hit manga series The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and a collectible, double-sided poster!
The same listing for this box set reveals how it should arrive later this year in September for the price of $129.99. If there are any updates or changes to this, we’ll let you know.
